Improvised Crampons

Improvised Crampons is an Accessory item in The Long Dark. It adds 0°C warmth and 0°C windproofing. Waterproofing is 100%. It weighs 0.75 kg.

Within the Accessory slot its 0°C warmth ranks #2 of 4 entries here — mid-pack for that layer.

Its 3% protection is a small edge in a predator struggle, though mobility and warmth matter more in most runs.

Note the 5% mobility penalty — it slows you slightly, so a lighter inner layer can be the better trade when you are carrying a heavy load.

Crafting notes: it repairs with 2 × Scrap Metal; 60 minutes; 20% Condition and harvests into Cannot Harvest.

Verdict: Overall Improvised Crampons is a 0°C Accessory piece, best reserved for cold-weather loadouts where the mobility hit is affordable.
