Light Shell

Light Shell is an Outer torso item in The Long Dark. It adds 1°C warmth and 3°C windproofing. Waterproofing is 30%. It weighs 1 kg.

Within the Outer torso slot its 1°C warmth ranks #16 of 19 entries here — on the lighter-warmth end for that layer.

At 1°C per kg its warmth-to-weight ratio ranks #87 of 100 clothing items with both values recorded — a poor return for the weight.

Its 3% protection is a small edge in a predator struggle, though mobility and warmth matter more in most runs.

Note the 2% mobility penalty — it slows you slightly, so a lighter inner layer can be the better trade when you are carrying a heavy load.

Crafting notes: it repairs with 1 × Cloth; 45 minutes; 30% condition and harvests into 2 × Cloth; 40 minutes.

Verdict: Overall Light Shell is a 1°C Outer torso piece.
